Each year the Club runs regular internal competitions where members can submit videos made, either to a theme or an open choice. On competition night, all entries are shown at the club and the films are judged by the judging committee. The winner and second and third place runners-up are then announced at the end of the evening.
The judging criteria are:
1) Camera techniques – good composition, focusing, exposure, colour balance, correct use of zoom & pan etc.
2) Sound techniques – Good use of sound, correct levels, clarity and appropriateness of narration, no audio crashes, etc.
3) Editing skills – Including good visual flow with variation in pace to suit the scene or subject of the film, the creative use of sound to enhance the film, etc.
4) Creative Skills – choice of material and subject matter, getting the message across, special effects used to enhance the film, etc.
5) Entertainment / Information value – Does the film entertain and/or inform the viewer?
